A Deeper Season

April_love

XXXVIII

- E. E. Cummings -

yes is a pleasant country:
if's wintry
(my lovely)
let's open the year

both is the very weather
(not either)
my treasure,
when violets appear

love is a deeper season
than reason;
my sweet one
(and april's where we're)

To each who sent a message, thought a kind or concerned thought in my direction, or looked here just to see if anything would ever change;

To each who kept me on a favorites list despite nothing new to show for it in a really long time;

To you, reading this now;

Thank you.

More to come, some much overdue. I hope you will join me for another season, as long as it lasts and as far as it takes us into poetry, scent, memory, and imagination.

so i must send you some moondance when it's released in a few weeks, soft and gentle, violet flowers from alchemy and tenderness to get thru the winter.

"Phoenix, I remember one
who perished on a cross--
extinguished.
He burned in pools of cherry
like fire within fire
extinguished.
Yet from the dark of the ashes
he glows.
His wings are numbered
with the flowers of our land,
with all the days of all the years,
with pebbles and the merest stones.
Like you, my phoenix,
he survived our hunger,
and his mercy feeds us."

Adonis, tr. Samuel Hazo

I only discovered your smokin' blog after it seemed to be over. Now this fluttering of wings! I can be with you in the present! Thank you so much!
